Jack's Essential Bags

Jack's Essential Bags are one of our original ideas when JJST first started!

As parents who have been there, we understand that just a little token something is very much appreciated to know that you are not alone.

At present, these bags are only given out to the families of children diagnosed with cancer at The Conquest Hospital in Hastings (our local hospital) by our wonderful community nurses.

The JJST tote bags include- 

JJST Thermal Mug- because when you are in hospital with your poorly child, and you finally get the chance to grab yourself a drink, there’s always some reason that you have to put it back down to do something else. This way, your drink can hopefully stay hotter for longer! 

JJST Sports Bottle- whether it is for your child or for you, it’s always handy to have something that doesn’t spill! 

JJST Notebook and Pen- to jot down or log any important information. 

When we were in hospital with our Jack, we basically made a diary of every day, including any medication given including times and how much, which nurses/doctors came in, food/drink intake, basically everything that happened each day. I think this was the only little bit of control we had! 

JJST Colouring pack- a little something for your child to do. 

JJST Teddy- because who doesn’t need a Teddy to cuddle! Jack had his Teddy who went everywhere with him! 

Mini Travel Wash Bag- just a little something to keep in your hospital bag for emergencies.

JJST Wristband- just a little reminder that we are always here for you.

And our new item which will be in the next batch of bags delivered to the hospital-

UNO Game- it was bought to our attention that it might be nice to add something more suitable for older children. UNO is a big favourite in our family, and suitable for a big age range, so it seemed appropriate to add one into the bag! 

Also included in the bags is a form for a one off small grant to give parents a little helping hand at such a tough time.
